The Labour Government’s 2025 pre-election budget includes significant infrastructure investments aimed at improving transport connectivity for regional residents.

The Victorian Government has announced the introduction of the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund (ESVF), set to replace the Fire Services Property Levy (FSPL) from 1 July 2025. The increased levy is effectively shifting costs of emergency services from the state government to rate payers.

Leaders from the Greater Ballarat region are calling for bipartisan support to enhance infrastructure and services critical to their communities’ growth and well-being. The Greater Ballarat Alliance of Councils has identified key priorities requiring federal intervention: housing, transport, digital connectivity, and local government financial sustainability.
